Orofino Community Choir Spring Concerts May 2-4
The Orofino Community Choir spring concert, "How Great Thou Art" will be
presented next weekend, May 2, 3 and 4.
The concerts will feature a variety of traditional and contemporary religious music, including Down to the River to Pray, Battle Hymn of the Republic, I’ll Fly Away Medley, You Raise Me Up, and a novelty children’s folk song about Noah’s Ark, The Animals are Comin’.
A beautiful arrangement of Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing, a traditional American melody from Wyeths Repository of Sacred Music and arranged by Mack Wilberg will be accompanied by Richard Witten, organist and Joanne Hutchinson, pianist.
The 40-plus choir members are from Kamiah, Gifford, Clarkston and the Orofino area. While there is no admission charge, voluntary contributions are gratefully accepted to help defray the cost of music, around $1200 annually. Excess funds generated are donated back to the community and since 1991 funds given have exceeded $8,000.
The Women of St. Theresa’s will host a reception in the Little Flower Room following each performance. Choir members also provide many of the cookies.
The choir is directed by Woody Bausch. Joanne Hutchinson is the accompanist.
The choir invites members of the community to attend "at least" one of the exciting and enjoyable concerts.
Performances will be Friday evening, May 2 and Saturday evening, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday afternoon performance is Sunday, May 4 at 2:30 p.m. All concerts are at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 446 Brown Avenue in Orofino.
