Spring Round-Up a success

By Dee Crane

The Ninth Annual Spring Round-Up hosted by the area’s outfitters and guides was once again very successful. Thanks to everyone who supported the efforts of the Clearwater Valley Chapter of the Idaho Outfitters and Guides Associations to provide the area communities with a fun and enjoyable day.

There were over 175 people who attended the Spring Round-Up, held April 11. They were entertained with live music by STAMPEDE! and Alan Halvor-son, as well as the Idaho State Championship Elk Calling Contest which was sponsored by Mona Vie.

Throughout the day there were numerous games and raffles including the ever-popular Musical Saddles, events for the kids, and several educational demonstrations. It was a fair day for weather and a great place for fun and feeling good about supporting people in the area communities.

The annual Rib-eye Steak Dinner was again, the ‘Best Darn Steak in the Valley!’ Nearly 200 steaks were served with all the trimmings. Dutch oven specialties were again a delight as was the shrimp for the steak.

The Live Auction and a Silent Auction took place throughout the day. Participation was good and the people of the Clearwater Valley will benefit because of its success. Four area high schools will receive ‘I Love Idaho’ scholarships and 50 percent of the proceeds go to the area project ICARE (Cancer Assistance and Recovery Effort) which was started by members of the CVC-IOGA.

Winners of the ICARE raffle prizes included: Olivia Farr of Challis, won the pink camo ATV, and Penny Keck of Kooskia, won the pink BB/pellet gun.

All in all, the Spring Roundup was very successful and a lot of folks enjoyed the day. Thanks to all who participated and donated to help the community event to be such a success. We’ll see you next year! YeeHaw!
