Work resumed
this week on a project to create a new through travel lane on U.S.
12 and improve the junction at Idaho 7 near Orofino, the Idaho
Transportation Department announced.

Carrie Brooks, who was critically injured in a car accident several
weeks ago, has been released from Harborview Medical Center in
Seattle to an apartment there and will soon be returning home.

Two arrested for
arson, insurance fraud
Theresa Marie Norton, 30, of Pierce, and Jason L. Stacy, 29, of Kooskia,
were arrested separately April 16 and remain in jail on arson and
insurance fraud charges stemming from an investigation by Clearwater
County Sheriff’s detectives.

writer to share stories at 2009 Camas Festival
Diane Josephy Peavey, a writer who lives on a sheep and cattle ranch
in south central Idaho, will share her stories during the 2009
Weippe Camas Festival Saturday, May 23.

guests provide LCSC update
Danielle Hardy, director of the Lewis-Clark State College Outreach
Center in Orofino gave the Orofino Chamber of Commerce an update on
the center April 15, before introducing other LCSC staff who
presented information on various programs.

Chet Barnett, a former Orofino resident who now lives in Lewiston
and works in Alaska, recently rescued a man from choking.

hearings scheduled in Avista rate case
Staff from the Idaho Public Utilities Commission will be in
Sandpoint and Lewiston in May to provide an opportunity for
customers of Avista Utilities to ask questions about Avista’s
request for a rate increase.

for information about vandalism
A reward of $1000
is being offered for information leading to the arrest and
conviction of persons responsible for damaging a restroom at the
Potlatch Canyon trailhead located three miles south of Helmer.

Archers participate in annual bear shoot
Beautiful spring weather arrived just in time for the recent annual
bear shoot at Dworshak State Park Freeman Creek Campground, which is
a two-day event sponsored by the Clearwater Archers Club.
