Lion’s Club, 7 p.m. April 17, Weight Watchers, 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the center.
Pioneer Medical Clinic will be open April 21 with John Beeh, PA , closed the 22, April 23 with Dr. Jenkins and April 24 with Dr. Crecelius. The hours for the following week are; April 28, 29 and 30 with John Beeh, PA. Clinic hours are 9 a.m.-noon-1:30 p.m.-5 p.m. Phone 464-2578 for appointments.

Pierce-Weippe Chamber Auction and Dinner, is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at the Weippe Community Center.
Benefit/Jam Session
A Benefit auction and jam session for Jack Smith, who has been diagnosed with cancer, will be held at the Weippe Community Hall April 26. Potluck will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Auctioneer Leroy Kuykendall will start the bidding at 1 p.m. Many items large and small have been generously donated for this auction. Following the auction there will be a jam session with many of the people Jack has played music with over the years. The Graham Brothers will also be playing. ALL MUSICIANS WELCOME! Throughout the day there will be a cakewalk and 50/50 drawing and different challenging games.

Raffle tickets are available in Pierce and Weippe for 1/2 beef cut and
wrapped, 20 gauge shotgun and a handmade quilt. There is also an account set up
at White Pine Credit Union.
Free Health Screening Van
The
Lion’s Club is pleased to announce their free health screening van will be here
again this year during White Cane Days. The Lions Health Screening Unit will
provide screening to the public in the following areas:
Diabetes, Glaucoma, Blood Pressure, Hearing and Vision. This free screening
will take place in Pierce at S&S Foods on Saturday, May 3rd from 10:00 am to
3:00pm.
Last year we screened over 70 people and sent 5 for further testing.
Spring Clean-Up
This years annual clean up day is May 10 from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. The community potluck starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Court Yard Park. Free hotdogs and beverages!
Your help is needed to beautify Pierce. All organizations and residents are encouraged to come out and help. Volunteers are needed to pick up trash, pick up appliances, refinish bleachers, refinish picnic tables, refinish/repair town signage, put out planters, help unload at “Y” and to hang new banners.

Mother’s Day Breakfast
Annual Mother’s Day Breakfast will be provided by the Lion’s Club. They will be serving their traditional breakfast of your choice of bacon or sausage, two eggs, hash browns, toast, coffee and juice for just $6. Hours are 7 a.m.-11a.m.

March 1st, 1937
Members of the Board present: Gisel, Dinnison, and Snyder. Absent: McCloskey and Ruark.
Meeting called to order by chairman Gisel, minutes of previous meeting read and approved.
The clerk read to the Board the application of Bob Weadon for a license to sell beer for the year 1937, the fee of $100 accompanying his application. His business is to be located in the Yellow front building. After discussion of the application Trustee Dinnison moved that the application be tabled until the Yellow Front building was put in sanitary condition. Motion seconded by trustee Snyder and carried.
Application from Max Thompson for pool table license for the quarter ending March 31, with fee of $7.50 accompanying was read to the board and accepted.
The following bills were read to the Board for consideration of payment:
Irvin J Rossiter-Marshall salary-$75.00, Pierce light & power-street lights-$12.55, John W. Graham & Co.-$54.05
Clearwater Garage-gas for plow-$1.43, T.E. Housh Furniture co.-mattresses for jail-$18.00.
The Clerk was instructed to purchase printed license blanks for the City.
Discussion of coming municipal election on April 27 was discussed and the fee for registering voters by City Clerk was considered at a set ten cents each. Appointment of election officers was deferred until next meeting.

Amusement Hall
Meeting called for the purpose of discussion of the letter being circulated, purportedly by the Loyal Legion of Loggers and Lumbermen, copies of which have been sent to Federal and State Law Enforcement Agencies concerning alleged lawlessness of the Village of Pierce.
After a thorough discussion of the subject Trustee Snyder was delegated to go to Lewiston to contact Leo McCarty, Attorney, for legal advice regarding what action may be taken in the matter.
A copy of the letter in question was given to the Clerk to file, this letter was addressed from potlatch Forests Inc, Headquarters Idaho, signed by Glen Carey, chairman, Glen Sullivan, secretary and the Conference committee of Local 71 District 10. L.L.L.L. accuses the law enforcement officers of Pierce with aiding and abetting violators of the law.
