   Timberline AAU ninth grade boy’s basketball team members include Issac McIntosh, Porter Lacey, Jesse Kimball, Matt Johnstun, Lucas McIntosh, Jesse Daniels, Ryan Medley and  Kyle Kinard. The team was coached by Jerry Johnstun assisted by Chuck Kinard and Dave Daniels.

   The Idaho Department of Lands will honor retirees Larry Campbell and Roland Craft with a retirement celebration. Both men have spent the majority of their careers for the Idaho Department of Lands.

   Mike Leonard was honored for 25 years of service to the Clearwater County Road Department. Mike began work for the department in 1973.

   Mike McGee carded his first hole-in-one at the Orofino Golf Course with a five iron on hole #3.

   Orofino High School Varsity Softball team members are Annette Adams, Teresa Montambo, Heidi Jenni, Brenda Fix, Colleen Curry, Cassie Newland, Sherri Smith, Sheila Cochrane, Paulette Ponozzo, Becky Gombus, Ann Marie Markuson, and Lee Ann Blenden.

   Bi-Rite Lumber Co. is the name of the building materials and hardware firm located in the former Hardings, Inc, on upper Michigan Ave.

   Owners and personnel of the newly opened Valley Graphics, located at 125 College Ave., in Village Square Shopping Mall are Larry and Karon Schlieper owners with Suzy Kludt, office manager and Greg Schlieper.

   The United States Academy announced that Tom C. Farley, a teacher at Orofino High School has been named to the Academy’s National advisory board.

   Mary Jane Wilmarth was sworn in as county treasurer succeeding Violette Hinkley. Glenna Johnston is deputy treasurer.

   A new $28,000 metal stairway is being installed at Big Eddy Marina by the Corps of Engineers to replace a wooden structure accessing the boat docks.

   Potlatch Corporation has purchased 25 acres of Cherry Lane Ranch Land from Derrell Kirby as a white pine seed cone orchard.

   U.S. Corps of Engineers has clear-cut 154 acres of timberland on Long Creek to be managed for elk browse.

   Nine thousand returning spawners have assured a successful 1978 fish run at Dworshak Hatchery reports Wayne Olson, manager.

   Some stripped spawners are being placed in Dworshak Reservoir as an experiment.

   Robert Robertson and Darcy Aldrich have been chosen top honor students of the Orofino High School senior class.

   With final tests underway the new 220,000-kilowatt Dworshak Dam generating plant has been tied on to the Bonneville Power system.

   Riverside and Gilbert have been added to District 3 for commissioner elections.

   Potlatch Scholarships this week were announced for Karen Lansing, Chris Beeson and Cindy Jasper.

   Ken Weller, senior, was named winner of the Vandal Booster Award at the annual chamber athletic banquet.

   March unemployment payments are reported at over $80,000. Local mills now getting back into production are Ahshaka Lumber, Riverside Lumber, Johnson’s Mill, O-Mill, Konkolville Lumber, Schmidt Bros, Johnstun Hutchins Bros. and Waldron Hamilton.

   Weippe Youth Mike Daniels, Ron Bonner, Ed Hafer, and Greg Buchholz are attending the governors Youth Traffic Safety Convention in Boise.

   City council members have placed hoods over 10 parking meters on the north side of Michigan Ave. near the stop light to permit an extra lane of traffic to by-pass stalling motorists who are trying to make runs on Johnson Ave.

   State Hospital population is down to 372 almost 10 less then the average of 469 five years ago reports Supt. M. W. Pullen.

   City crews are installing a 10-inch line to plan for growth on Riverside Avenue. It replaced an old 4-inch line for 850 feet past the Orofino Builders Supply.

   Orofino Chamber has joined with Teakean Evergreen Grange in asking for pavement and better alignment on the Orofino-Cavendish Highway.
