Fraser warms up

By Norma Brand

The temperatures during the past last week have started to warm up. Weather patterns continue to blow through the area, most of the moisture is rain, but on Monday, April 13 we saw some snow flakes. Everyone is looking forward to working outside now that the month of April is half over.

Fraser Ladies

Fraser Ladies Get Together Club held their regular meeting on Wednesday, April 8. Hostesses Charlotte Bonner and Teresa Meads had the Fraser Community Center decorated for Easter. The meeting was called to order by President Donna Brown, Norma Brand took notes for Secretary Oreta Stuart who was unable to attend.

Get well cards sent

Caryl Smolinski is in Clearwater Valley Hospital and her daughter Bev Bailey reported on her condition. Members signed cards for Caryl and Marie Green and Bev offered to deliver them. They also signed a card for Oreta Stuart who is home recovering from back surgery. Everyone missed Ruth McHone and a card was sent to her.

Guests were Darlene Jackson and Minnie West and her son Dalton. After a delicious lunch secret sister gifts were distributed and shared. The next meeting will be May 13 and hostesses are Gini Donnelly and Bonnie Kenny. The theme will be Mother’s Day.

Lutes family news

On Thursday, April 9, Keith and Shirley Lutes enjoyed a visit from their granddaughter Jennifer Robinson, her husband Dylan and their children BreeLynn and Sean. BreeLynn had time to ride the pony while her two-month-old brother, Sean, took a nap under the watchful eye of great grandma Shirley. Steve and Norma Brand stopped by to meet Sean and to visit with the family.

Oreta home and recovering

Oreta Stuart is home, with husband Dale, recovering from back surgery. Their daughters, Carmen Minard and Lisa Calhoun, have been staying at the ranch to help out. Carmen came from Gresham, OR on Saturday, April 4. Lisa drove up to the ranch on Tuesday to have time to visit with her sister before she returned home on Wednesday. Lisa will be at the ranch until Oreta can move around by herself. Don Curnutt joined the family for Easter dinner.

Easter at the Judds'

Loretta Judd drove to Fraser for the Easter weekend. Elvita’s grandson, Brian Judd, his wife Amanda and their children Blake, six, and Makenna, four, have joined Elvita at the ranch. On Easter morning the two children were up early, the Easter Bunny had hid eggs in the yard, and they couldn’t wait for the hunt to begin. How many eggs did you find?

It has been two years since Claud passed away on April 13. Elvita and Loretta took time to visit his gravesite at the Fraser Cemetery on Monday. Loretta mentioned that Toni Smith and her two sons, Jamison and Joseph will spend a month at the ranch again this summer.

Bill and Donna Jackson spent a quiet Easter at home.

Fraser Boosters 4-H Club

Have you figured out when the Fraser Cemetery cleanup day is? Cathy Walker noticed the date in last weeks column was incorrect, it was supposed to be Friday, April 24 at 10 a.m. My mistake, sorry about the confusion, we hope the day is beautiful and you have a good time.

Smolinski family has Easter at CVH

Marie Green and her daughter Wilma and son-in-law Dick Shedd had Easter dinner with Jack Smolinski and his family in the solarium at the Clearwater Valley Hospital. Jack’s wife Caryl is a patient at the hospital. The Fraser community sends their love to Caryl and Jack and their family.

McHone family

Ruth McHone reported her family met on Saturday, April 11 to say good bye to her husband Chuck. After the service at the cemetery, the Rebekah Lodge of Kooskia served dinner to over 60 family and friends. Ruth is presently living at Brookside Landing in Orofino.

Mike and Sharon’s family traveled from Boise, E Num Claw, WA and Denton, TX to be here for the service. Everyone enjoyed meeting the newest granddaughter, six-month-old Mara Schuett. While the grandchildren were here, they had a great time getting aquatinted with the new Welsh Pony babies.

New ponies at McHone ranch

Sharon reported they have three new babies, all girls. The baby, born to the mare named Miss Gale, loves attention, and is encouraged to follow them when they feed the other horses. The families left on Monday morning and Mike and Sharon have lots of good memories to hold them over until the next visit.
