CVHC Wine Tasting features sapphires and chocolates
The CVHC 36th Annual Wine Tasting on Friday, April 30 will feature a special Chocolate and Sapphires Raffle. Little satin satchels filled with Dove chocolates will be available for a $20 donation. Inside one of the pouches are two deep blue sapphires and a 25 percent off coupon for a custom mounting from Johnson’s Jewelers. The wine testing is held at St. Theresa’s Little Flower Room from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
“Each year we add a dimension to our wine tasting and this year it’s the special raffle,” said Stephanie Deyo, CVHC Foundation who co-sponsors the event with the CVHC Auxiliary. “Everyone will have the opportunity to purchase as many satchels as they like. Once everyone who wants one has made their purchase we’ll distribute then open them at the same time. Most people will get chocolates and a cute little bag, but the lucky winner will have two gorgeous sapphires and a gift certificate for a custom mounting from Johnson’s Jewelers. I think it will be fun and exciting.”
The sapphires were donated to the Wine Tasting by Kathy Dougherty, CVHC Auxiliary President. “We’re having a similar raffle at the Idaho Hospital Association Volunteer meeting. We thought it would be fun to replicate it at our function.”
All proceeds from ticket, silent auction and raffle sales will be used to fund camper scholarships for pediatric patients with diabetes. Proceeds will also be donated to the CVHC Endowment Fund which will eventually use interest to make a sizeable donation to the hospital each year to purchase needed equipment and make capital improvements.
“We’re also going to try another new thing this year,” said Deyo. “We always receive requests to purchase bottles of the wine we’re serving. This year, past 8 p.m., we’ll offer the wines for sale by the bottle. We’ll have our credit card machine at the event to make it more convenient.”
‘Grapes Galore’ is this year’s theme and the featured wines include a Chocolate Cabernet to compliment the Sapphires and Chocolate promotion. Other wines include Jade Mountain Merlot, Shingleback Black Bubbles Sparking Shiraz, Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon, a Chardonnay, a Sauvignon Blanc, a Pinot Grigio and a White Zinfandel. Beers will include New Belgium Ranger, Sam Adams Noble Pils, an Alaskan White Ale and a Deschutes Red Chair.
All wines and beers are carefully selected by Bill DuChemin, Odom Distributing. He and Dave Goodpasture will be available at the Wine Tasting to explain the selections and answer any questions.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $20/person or $35/couple. The ticket includes five tastes of any beverage, hearty Italian snacks provided by Jo Moore, Country Catering and an opportunity to bid on nine silent auction baskets.
