Maniacs drub McCall-Donnelly

   Orofino drubbed McCall-Donnelly 19-1 and 21-2 in a doubleheader that saw both games shortened by the 10-run mercy rule April 10.

   Trevor Bansemer threw a no-hitter in the first game, finishing with nine strikeouts in five innings of work. The Maniacs were able to get 19 runs out of only six hits.

   In the second game the Maniacs scored 15 runs in the first inning. Ethan Gilliam was 3-for-3 to lead Orofino (11-3), while Spencer Arnsberg went 2-for-3 and Seth Melton was 3-for-4.

Maniacs lose to Asotin

   Freshman starting pitcher Nate Scheibe came up big for the Panthers by posting three-plus innings of one-run baseball to help propel Asotin to a 8-3 nonleague victory over Orofino April 6.

   Scheibe allowed just one run on two hits while striking out two and walking two.

   Nick Pomponio, Jason Thompson and Seth Melton each had a hit for the Maniacs.

Maniacs at Lewiston Twilight meet

   Maniac athletes participated in the Lewiston Twilight meet April 9. The boys scored 20.5 points for a tenth place finish and the girls finished ninth overall with 33 points. Eleven teams participated in the meet.

Lewiston takes Orofino golf event

   Lewiston's boys won the team portion of the Orofino Invitational at Kayler's Bend, leading the five-team field with a score of 168. Orofino’s team score was 211. Dusty Kellar led the Orofino individual scores with 50.
