Annual Spring Round-Up is Saturday

   You won’t want to miss the events going on this Saturday, April 10 at Orofino City Park. The 10th annual Spring Round-up will kick off early in the afternoon with something going on for all ages throughout the day.

   The cost is $10 for kids 7-12 (under six are free), $25 for adults (13 & up), and $45 for couples, which includes dinner, all the beverages you’d like and allows participation in all the events of the day.

Schedule of events

   1 p.m. - Entry and welcome, country music, cowboy poetry and yodeling by ‘STAPMEDE! & ‘ROCKIN’ HW! Hot dogs, popcorn and beverages available. Raffles and games. ICARE’s- ATV and Elk Print raffles.

   Savage .17 Cal. gun raffle. Silent Auction (around 60 items).

   1:30-2:30 p.m. - Bugling demo by ‘Quaker Boy Calls,’ Larry Landsdown. Helicopter ping pong drop by Back Country Medics Air Ambulance with demo and information available.

   Kid’s Sack Race, Toddler’s Fishing Pond, Wine Bottle Ring Toss for adults, Kids’ Antler Ring Toss, ‘Musical Saddles’ and more.

    3 p.m. - 4th Annual Elk Calling Contest with four divisions. Entry fees: Professional (Sponsored by a manufacturer)-$50, Adult-$25, Youth (11-17) - $10, PeeWee (10 & under)-$10. In addition to trophies, first place winners of the Elk Calling Contest will receive $200 in the Professional and Adult divisions, $100 for Youth and $50 for the Peewee division.

   5-6 p.m. - ‘Best Darn Rib-Eye Steak Dinner in the Valley!’ topped with sautéed shrimp, mushroom and veggies as well as delicious Dutch Oven potatoes, baked beans and desserts. Hot dogs are available for children.

   6 p.m. - Live Auction. Items to be auctioned include Salmon River steelhead fishing, artwork, jewelry, ICARE basket, Alaska salmon and halibut fishing, African hunt, Ruger LCR .38, load of gravel, Lolo Zone wolf hunt, River’s Edge/Dining on the Edge suite and dinner, Utah summer trip, Lewis and Clark trail ride, handcrafted items and more.

   Plus, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Spring Round-Up, a live auction item called ‘Experience Idaho’ will be up for bids. Included are 10 various experiences in Idaho that are suitable for family and friends to get together and enjoy outdoor activities.

   All attendees will be entered in drawings for many door prizes. Adults will be entered in a Special 10th Anniversary drawing for a 10 person weekend getaway.

   Cash or other prizes will be given for all games and contests.

   Your support is appreciated and we’d love to have you. It is a really fun time and we encourage you to ‘Round-Up yer friends,’ ‘Get out that bugle’ and ‘Join the fun.’

   After the park activities, ‘Dance to ‘STAMPEDE’! & ‘Rockin’ HW’ at the Lodge at River’s Edge.

   This is a fundraising event helping people in the Clearwater Valley by providing scholarships to four area high schools and through the ICARE project (Cancer Assistance & Recovery Effort) giving financial aid to people in the surrounding areas who are actively receiving treatment for cancer or other serious illnesses. Area communities also benefit, throughout the year, with other various contributions made from the profits of the Spring Round-Up.

   Weather tends to get quite cool, as the city cark is near the river. Dress warmly and be prepared. Covered areas (tables/chairs/heaters) help keep people comfortable. If necessary, the 6 p.m. live auction may be held at the Best Western Lodge at River’s Edge.
