Community Clean-Up and Arbor Day celebration April 24
Orofino Community Clean-Up Day, spearheaded by the Chamber of Commerce, City of Orofino, and Kiwanis and Rotary clubs, will be held Saturday, April 24 at Orofino City Park.
The community is invited to roll up its sleeves for this spring fling event. Individuals and organizations are asked to clean up around their homes and workplaces. Groups and individuals are encouraged to sign up and clean an area in need in their neighborhood or community.
The clean up committee would like to remove abandoned vehicles within the city limits. People are encouraged to call and let the committee know about any abandoned vehicles in their neighborhoods.

In celebration of Arbor Day, Urban Forestry of Orofino (UFO) in conjunction with the Idaho Dept. of Lands will give out free seedlings and raffle ornamental shrubs and trees. Information on planting and tree care will be available. For more information call the Chamber of Commerce at 476-4335.
The community garage sale will be back this year in the fair exhibit building. Itís the perfect opportunity to clean up and recycle your household goods, and make money. Four sizes of spaces are available for reservations.
Contact Don George at 476-4226 to reserve a booth. The monies earned from booth fees will be given back to a community organization to help with one of their projects.
Greener Clearwater County will have a booth that day and will be available to educate and answer questions regarding the 3 Rís (reduce, reuse, and recycle). Contact Amanda Tucker at 476-5658.
Scheduled activities at the City Park April 24 are as follows:
Community Clean-Up takes place from 7 a.m. to 12 noon. Free trash bags will be available.
Trash trucks will be available for trash deposits all weekend.
A free hot dog lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon will be held for those signed up for area clean-up.
The Arbor Day Celebration takes place from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Free seedlings (while they last) will be given away, along with tree care information.
C-PTPA will have information on fire protection property. At noon, the Tree City USA and Growth Award will be presented to the City of Orofino.
Greener Clearwater Countyís Reduce, Reuse, Recycle education booth and recycling trailer, will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The group will have a contest, with prizes, for the most recyclables.
The community garage sale in the fair exhibit building takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Transfer Station will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. all weekend and will accept small truck and passenger tires, household pesticides, recyclables such as cardboard, newspaper, paper, plastic containers, aluminum cans, and scrap iron, plus batteries (car and rechargeable) and used cranked oil.
Clearwater Mart will take any reusable items.
