Clearwater Human Needs Council learns about Easter

Hans Mathiesen of Life Change Learning Center helped those at the recent Clearwater Human Needs Council (CHNC) meeting explore a few quotes from people who he feels experienced, somewhere in their life, the real meaning of “resurrection” and caught an authentic aspect of the message of Easter.

He began with a poem:

Flowers blooming,

reaching out to touch

the morning sun, bring

promises of hope and joy

meant for everyone

From JohnPaul of Homespun

Just as there are seasons in the physical world, there are seasons in individual’s inner lives. Easter is a time when the two come together in a time of joyous celebration. Easter and spring are a time of renewal and rebirth. Inside and outside, Easter and spring are a time for cleaning out and making way for fresh possibilities and new commitments to life. It is a time to revive faith, expand horizons and begin again.

Mathiesen used the following quotes to illustrate his message:

“The resurrection gives my life meaning and direction and the opportunity to start over no matter what my circumstances.”

~ Robert Flatt, minister

“Easter spells out beauty, the rare beauty of new life.”

~ S.D. Gordon, speaker and writer 1859 – 1936

“For I remember it is Easter morn, And life and love and peace are all new born.”

~ Alice Freeman Palmer, American educator 1855 - 1902

“Easter tells us that life is to be interpreted not simply in terms of things but in terms of ideals.”

~ Charles M. Crowe, minister

He said from these quotes he learned that Easter is about:

·  Deep heartfelt irreversible change,

·  Letting go of old defeating habits,

·  Allowing a new caring spirit of aliveness, and

·  Sharing what discoveries in love and harmony with all one embraces

Pertinent human needs services information that is not in the current Resource Guide is being gathered for the update that will be done for 2009.

The process is moving forward to explore expansion of the mission and scope of CHNC The organization is working with the Idaho Norprofit Development Center (INDC) to see what process needs to be followed.
