Back Country Medics request letter of  support for MedDeck Pivoting Litter

    Neal Johnson presented a request from Back Country Medics for a letter of support for a grant application for a MedDeck Pivoting Litter. They are in need of a acquiring a special transport litter that attaches to the helicopter to aid in loading and unloading patients. This equipment will facilitate in the welfare of the patient in transporting and protect the medical personnel with heavy lifting.  It will save valuable transport time, improve patient handling and enhance the quality of care.  The Board of Commissioners commend the Back Country Medics in their expertise in providing outstanding care in the emergency services available to the remote areas we live and work in.  They approved signing a letter of support for a grant application to Idaho Emergency Medical Services for a MedDeck Pivoting Litter.

    Sheriff Alan Hengen and Chief Deputy Chris Goetz provided an update on the department. The State Jail inspection tour and meeting is scheduled for April 4. The Department personnel are gearing up for boat patrol on the river system and ATV patrol on the trails system. 

    Stephanie Connolly, Field Manager for Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and Dean Huibregtse, BLM, met with the Board to review their resource management program. Mr. Huibregtse provided an overview of the plan draft for BLM resource management. The BLM, State and IDWR have an agreement for listing Wild and Scenic designations.  The Clearwater River corridor is an area of interest for listing.     

   The public has voiced concerns on land management for multiple uses on the Lolo Creek Drainage.  The Wild and Scenic designation has some restrictions for land use. The BLM is not including the Lolo Creek drainage in a wild and scenic listing at this time. The management plan is under last minute edits then it is offered again for local agency and public comments.  The BLM Resource Management Plan (RMP) will be released to the County for comment in May.   

    Amanda Tucker, representative of a Greener Clearwater, dropped by to let the Board know about the activities scheduled for Earth Day celebration. She asked if progress is made on placing recycling bins at the Transfer Station. Lewis Clark Recyclers made a proposal to the County for recycling at the Transfer Station.

    Road and Bridge report was given by Rob Simon. The road surface inventory map was submitted to review. The road department provided documentation for the maintenance of the Meadow Road and right of way information was necessary for a records request. 

    Avista is installing an open delta three phase at the Transfer Station for low horse power motor. The Board approved signing the contract for Avista’s Electric Service Agreement for $1,561.20 for commercial service.  Also, Mike’s Heating and Air Conditioning gave a refresher course on removal of Freon from refrigerator units. 

    The Board approved the Treasurer’s Request for Cancellation Apportionment of taxes for a total of $13.01.  

    There were three executive sessions held to discuss personnel and indigent matters.
