After 30 years it’s quitting time for local banker

Carol Adams, who started her banking career in 1978, is retiring and plans to hit the road with husband, Tim, in their stocked and ready to roll motor home.

A familiar face at American West Bank will be missing come next week when Carol Adams retires from a 30-year banking career. She said during her career “I have done it all.” All these years have been spent in Orofino. She’s seen several name and address changes during her 30 years of banking in Orofino.

She started her banking career in 1978 with Idaho First National Bank, located at the corner of Michigan and B streets. During her employment the bank’s name changed first to West One Bank, then Moore Financial Services and to its current name US Bank.

In 1998 Carol went to work at the Bank of Latah, which was new to Orofino and located in a trailer on the lot where the new Family Eye Care facility is now located. The Bank of Latah become affiliated with American West Bank in early 2000’s and moved into their new building on Main St. shortly after that.

Carol, who attended schools in Orofino, said she started her banking career when her two children, Timothy Dale and Annette were in grade school. Tim is now stationed with the military in New York and Annette is a teacher in the Orofino school system.

With excitement in her voice Carol said she and her husband, Tim, a retired logger, put their house on the market for sale a few weeks ago and have their motor home, gassed and stocked with groceries and are ready to head out first to New York for a few week’s visit then a tour of the United States before returning permanently to Orofino.

Carol said she has not seen her grandchildren in New York for two years now.

A familiar face at the bank and an active member of the Clearwater Humane Society for 13 years Carol will be missed by many who have known her down through the years as a friend and pleasant person to do business with.

Good luck, Carol, in your new venture.
