CVHC Wine Tasting scheduled for April 30
‘Grapes Galore’ is the theme for the 36th Annual Wine Tasting co-hosted by the Clearwater Valley Hospital Auxiliary and Foundation. Friday, April 30, from 6:30 to 9 the Little Flower Room at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church will be transformed into a lush vineyard. The event will feature six reds, five whites and four beer selections.
During the evening festivities little satin satchels containing fine chocolates will be sold for $20. One of the satchels contains not only chocolates, but two sapphires and a 25% off coupon from Johnson’s Jewelers for a custom mounting.
“We like to have something a bit different at each of our functions. This year Kathy Dougherty, Auxiliary President, donated two gorgeous sapphires and the idea for a drawing. Johnson’s Jewelers were nice enough to contribute a 25% off coupon for custom setting,” said Freddi Engblom, Auxiliary member.
“Everyone is welcome to purchase one or more satchels and after the silent auction winners are announced at 8 p.m. we’ll have everyone open their satchel to see is who the lucky winner.”
One of the featured red wines is a chocolate and cabernet sauvignon selection. All wines are chosen by Bill DuChemin, Odom Distributors. The selections also include another cab, a merlot, a sparkling Shiraz, a chardonnay and a sauvignon Blanc. “The chocolate cabernet will fit in perfectly with our chocolate and sapphire raffle,” said Engblom. “This year we’re also going to sell bottles of the selected wines because so many people find a wine they really like and want to purchase a bottle, so this year we’re making that happen,” said Engblom.
Engblom and Ginny White are recruiting area residents to serve as wine pourers in 30 minute shifts. If you are interested in pouring, give Engblom a call, 476-7060.
Jo Moore, Country Catering, is preparing an array of Italian finger foods, including crusty bread baguettes, assorted cheeses, sugared grapes and delicious desserts. The Wine Tasting will also feature nine silent auction baskets with different themes and four types of beer including a pils and a white ale.
Tickets will be sold at the door and cost $20 per person or $35 per couple. All proceeds will benefit the CVHC Foundation Endowment Fund and provide camper scholarships for pediatric patients with diabetes.
