ITD invites public to comment on highways

   The Idaho Transportation Department will hold a series of public meetings for five corridor studies that are in progress.

   The purpose of the studies is to understand corridor conditions and needs and identify priority improvements to meet corridor and user needs for the next ten years. The final recommendations from the studies will be used by the transportation department to prioritize funding to implement the improvement projects.

   Corridors being studied include segments of U.S. 95 from the Adams County line north to the Goff Bridge north of Riggins, U.S. 95 from the Goff Bridge north to the Benewah County line north of Potlatch, U.S. 12 from the Washington state line east to the Clearwater National Forest boundary east of Kooskia, 8 from the Washington state line east to Troy, and 14 narrow and low volume roadways in the district.

   The purpose of the meetings is to gather public input regarding the current and future needs of these corridors over the next ten years. Anyone interested in the corridors may attend between 4 and 7 p.m.

   Local meetings for the U.S. 90 Corridor include: Tuesday, April 6, at the ITD District 2 Conference Room, 2600 Frontage Rd. in Lewiston; and Wednesday, April 7, at Moscow City Hall Council Chambers, 206 East 3rd St., in Moscow.

   Local meetings for the Idaho 8 Corridor include: Wednesday, April 7, at Moscow City Hall Council Chambers, 206 East 3rd St., in Moscow.

   Local meetings for the Low Volume and Narrow Roadways include: Tuesday, April 6, at the ITD District 2 Conference Room, 2600 Frontage Rd. in Lewiston; Monday, April 12, at Deary High School, 501 1st Ave. in Deary; Tuesday, April 13, at Timberline High School, 1150 Highway 11 in Pierce; Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Kooskia City Hall, 26 S. Main St. in Kooskia.

   Local meetings for the U.S. 12 Corridor include: Tuesday, April 6, at the ITD District 2 Conference Room, 2600 Frontage Rd. in Lewiston; Wednesday, April 14, at Orofino Armory, 10210 U.S. 12 in Orofino; Thursday, April 15 at Kooskia City Hall, 26 S. Main St. in Kooskia
