Spartans lose double-header to Troy

   Riley Nelson bashed five extra-base hits to pace Troy to a sweep of Timberline in a Whitepine League doubleheader at Airport Park March 22.

   The Trojans won 13-12 and 26-20.

   Timberline led 12-7 in the first contest before Troy scored six times in the final inning. Jake Berglund plated the winning run with a single.

   In the second game Troy exploded for at least three runs in every inning except one.

   The Spartans, who had seven hits, kept the contest close by taking advantage of 14 walks issued by Troy pitchers.

   Trent McCool hit a triple for the Spartans in the first game.

Timberline loses Whitepine game to Kendrick

   Timberline tied the game in the sixth, but Adison Mortenson drove in the game-winning score in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Kendrick to a Whitepine League win over Timberline March 18.

   Both teams had three hits in the game.

Lady Spartans no match for unbeaten Prairie

   Sammi Frei recorded a pair of decisions, including a no-hitter, in leading Prairie past Timberline in a Whitepine League doubleheader at Lewiston's Sunset Park March 18.

   The Pirates won the opener 17-1 before claiming a 12-0 win in the nightcap.

   Timberline’s Kirsten Cook and Ksondra McIntosh each had a hit in the first game.
