Members of the board present: Gisel, Ruark, Snyder & Dinnison. Absent was McCloskey.
First to occupy the board’s attention was the condition of the jail windows which have been knocked out, it was left to Mayor Gisel to see that they were replaced. Trustee Snyder said that the mattresses were in an unusable state and needed to be replaced.
The following bills were read to the board by the clerk and after consideration Trustee Snyder moved that they be paid.
Durant’s Cash Store-supplies-$20.36, L. Ostenston - Actions in police court-$21, Clearwater Tribune-publication-$24, Milton Pollock-plowing snow-$5, Potlatch Forests-pipe fittings-$2.60, Clearwater Garage-gas to plow snow-$5.70, Walrath realty Co-Treasurer Bond premium-$10, Irvin Rossiter-Marshall salary-$75, Pierce Light & Power Co-street lights-$12.25.
The board next discussed the method used by the State in apportioning the liquor revenue to the different Counties. Owing to the wide difference in the population of Elk River and Pierce at this time and inasmuch as the apportionment of revenue is based on the 1930 Census, Pierce receives about one third that of Elk River and has a population of about twice the number of that town. After discussion of the subject the clerk was instructed to write to Senator Blake and Representative Gaffney in an effort to secure a more equitable distribution of liquor revenue between the two towns.
