OHS Cheer Team wins Grand Champion Award at state
The OHS Cheer Team competed at the Idaho State Cheer Championships on Saturday, March 22, at the Idaho Center in Nampa. The Stunt Group of Cody Delgado, Anne Marie Pomponio, Casey Morrow, William Akerstrom, and Kyle Kiele won first in the 1/A-2/A classification.
In Sideline Chant the Maniacs placed third behind, Aberdene second, and Mallad in first. In the Show Stunting Routine the Maniacs placed first, Hagerman placed second and Timberline placed third.
The combined scores of Sideline and Show determine the Overall Grand Champion. The Maniac Cheer Team scored 30 points higher than the other 12 teams in their classification to win the Grand Champion Award.
This year's team is made up of: Seniors: Willaim Akerstrom, Jayme Goodson, Eric Anderson, Josh Gearhart; Juniors: Anne Marie Pomponio, Kelsey Hanson, Kelsey Pederson, Franky Mikel, Cassie Davis, Kylie Seeley, Bobby Meador, Kyle Kiele, Cody Delgado, Alex Neshkoff, Sophomores: Kory Parker, Casey Morrow, Kellie Brooks, Jocelyn Bowser, Freshemen: Tyrnee Nakano, Kyler Dupea.
The OHS Cheer Team had a very successful season. They placed first in their division and won the Grand Champion Award at Post Falls in January, placed first in their division and Grand Champion at the Maniac Cheer Off in February and places second at the Open National Cheer Competition in Portland, Oregon the first part of March. Great job and great season, Maniac Cheer Team!
