


The only contested race in the election on a county level this year is for the position of Clearwater County Commissioner District 1 currently held by Don Ebert (D) of Weippe (pictured left). The opposing candidate is political newcomer Joy Hall (R) of Pierce (pictured center).
Ebert has served as county commissioner for the past eight years. He was elected to office in 2000.
The other four persons filing for candidacy will run unopposed.
Clearwater County’s Chief Deputy Chris Goetz, (R), 34 (pictured right), will run unopposed for the position of Clearwater County Sheriff in this year’s election.
A member of the county sheriff’s department for the past 10 years and chief deputy for the past two years Goetz is being supported by the current county sheriff Alan Hengen.
Hengen who was elected as county sheriff eight years ago, has opted not to run again for the position.
Three other candidates, all incumbents, filing as candidates in this year’s election are unopposed. They are Stan Leach for the position of district two commissioner, E. Clayne Tyler, as county prosecutor and Carrie Bird, as clerk/auditor and recorder.
