Boat Safety Class April 3

Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a “Boat Idaho” safety class in the conference room, at the Best Western Lodge at River’s Edge.

The class will be held on Saturday, April 3, starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m., with a break for lunch.  Attendees must attend all six hours of the class in order to receive a completed certificate from Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation.

Designed for both novice and seasoned boaters, the class offers a financial bonus:  successful attendees can receive up to a 20% discount on boat insurance.

Topics covered include rules of the road, carriage requirements, boating law, night navigation, life jacket requirements, water sports age requirements, personal watercraft rules and regulations and preventing boating emergencies.

Class instructor Marine Corporal Mike Gladhart states, “Unlike other northwestern states, Idaho does not have mandatory boating education.  However, a certificate from this class would qualify if the legislature does pass a state law requiring it.  The class is both comprehensive and fun.”

There will door prizes given away and a chance to win an Inflatable Life Jacket.  For more information or to register, please call Corporal Mike Gladhart at (208) 476-4521.
