Welcome home Morgan Keane!
Morgan Keane is coming home! Recovering from a fourth open heart surgery, in as
many years, Morgan and her mother Angela Keane are on their way back to Bonney
Lake, WA, where older brother Braeden, and younger sister Danica have anxiously
awaited their return for the past five weeks.
After many complications, including an injury to her thoracic duct which occurred during this last surgery, placing her on a fat-free diet, Morgan’s spirit and four year old sassiness have returned in full force,
She insisted on climbing three flights of stairs to their hotel room while waiting for the doctors’ consent to come home. It is the first time she has ever felt the warmth of body heat, or felt the sensation of a foot falling asleep. She has just experienced what it feels like to blow bubbles from a bubble wand or even better, to be able to blow out the candles on her own birthday cake next month.
Though both Morgan’s parents stayed with Morgan 24/7 the first several weeks of her ordeal, her father, who is in the U.S. Coast Guard was deployed Feb. 28, and will be gone until June. Half a world away he awaits the news of his daughter’s recovery and return home.
Family and friends have all stepped in to help hold down the fort in their absence. Due to the Keane’s inability to locate a team of doctors willing to perform Morgan’s surgery in their state, (which would be covered by the family’s insurance) they returned to the doctors who have sustained Morgan’s life thus far in Oakland, CA. Because of their decision and perseverance, they are required to foot more than forty percent of the medical costs.
Morgan and her family thank everyone in the community who has helped to bring this dream to reality. It is only the beginning of many miracles, for which they are so thankful.
Lewis Clark Credit Union continues to hold an account in Morgan’s name, in hopes of helping meet the ongoing medical expenses the family faces.
