Orofino Spring Round-Up April 12 to feature State Elk Calling Contest
The second annual Idaho State Championship Elk Calling Contest will be held Saturday, April 12 at Orofino City Park during the eighth annual Orofino Spring Round-Up.
The elk calling contest is sponsored by Nightforce and hosted by the Idaho Outfitters and Guides (IOGA).
Four divisions will be featured: the professional division, sponsored by a manufacturer, with an entry fee of $50; the adult division, with a $25 entry fee; the youth division for ages 11-17, with a $10 entry fee; and the PeeWee division for ages 10 and under, with a $10 entry fee.
The contest features trophies and a $5 opt-in cash pot, plus additional prizes and drawings.
The purchase of Spring Round-Up tickets (sold separately) allows participation in all events (excluding dinner, beverages and auction bidding).
Approximately 200 people attend the Orofino Spring-Round up each year to enjoy a BBQ rib-eye steak dinner, Dutch Oven delights, live bluegrass music by Lonesome Pine Drifters, seminars, games, raffles, live and silent auctions, beverages and campfires.
In the event of adverse weather, events will be held at the Orofino Armory on Highway 12. Signs will be posted.
Proceeds from the Spring Round-Up benefit people in the Clearwater Valley through ICARE (Cancer Assistance and Recovery Effort) and by providing four area high school scholarships.
