New Mercantile
Blue Moose Mercantile featuring gifts, cards, antiques and also gently used clothing, including scrubs, baby clothes and shoes. All the merchandise being brought in was purchased from other states, giving us a good variety to shop from. They will be opening soon in the building next to Windemere Realty.
The owners are Jerry and Kathy Coles, they recently moved to town from a small mountain town in California. They lived in Sandpoint about 12 years ago and loved it, but due their trucking business they had to return to California.
Jerry is also a diesel mechanic and hopes to open a shop in the old "Hoene" building they are currently staying in.. The Coles also have purchased the I.O.O.F Hall where Cheyenne’s Trading Post is located. It’s exciting to have new business’s in Pierce.
After talking with different people who have lived in Pierce for years, I thought this would be a fun addition to the Pierce news. Anyone who has favorite memories from days gone by are encouraged to contact me to share.
Denny Knight remembers the boardwalks that lined Main Street and how the kids loved to look for lost coins underneath.
Bob Brown talked of the house across the street from City Hall, which was originally built as a drive through restaurant and the building that was torn down between there and the grocery store used to be the clinic and grocery store.
1860 Days would like to hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. March 13 at the Lion's Club. It’s time to get committees organized for this years celebration. Crazy Blockers Quilt Club will meet 9 a.m. Friday March 14 at the Center. Everyone is invited to participate. Pierce Community Center has skating this Friday from 6-8p.m. with Kindergartner’s skating free.
Pioneer Medical Clinic is open as usual from Monday through Thursday’s and Dr. Jenkins on March 17. Call 464-2578 for an appointment.
Logger first aid class is March 20 at the center.
Those who know Robby from the Timber Inn, know that St. Paddy’s Day is his favorite holiday, and his place is decorated for the occasion. There will be broomstick pool and corned beef and cabbage Monday, March 17. Call 464-2736 for more information.
Compassionate Care has opened a second branch next to the Library in Pierce, ran by Ronda Binder. It’s open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 9-5 p.m. They provide in home care, offering housekeeping, errands and chore service.
Spring Raffle
The Clearwater Chapter of A.B.A.T.E. of North Idaho is sponsoring a raffle to raise money for the Baird family of Orofino who lost their home to a fire. There will be a number of prizes with 1st place being ½ a pig cut and wrapped. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5, the drawing is March 22. Contact Kathy Dill at 464-1129.
