Mathiesen to speak at Clearwater Human Needs Council

Hans Mathiesen of Life Change Learning Center will be the speaker at the next Clearwater Human Needs Council meeting Tuesday, March 18, at noon at Krystal Café.

He will help the group to explore the message of Easter, using a few quotes from people he feels have experienced, somewhere in their life, the real meaning of "resurrection" and caught an authentic aspect of that message.

Carisa Fore of the NICASA Parent Project was the speaker at the group’s meeting in February. NICASA is supported by the Clearwater Substance Abuse Workgroup as a prevention strategy for the community.

The concept is to strengthen family and community bonding to prevent substance abuse among youth in the community. It also serves as a support system for parents by offering 38 lessons on various topics. It is an opportunity for parents to receive valuable information that will enhance the quality of home and family life.

Topics of the sessions include Internet safety, family communication, how to talk to children about drugs and alcohol, even potty training. All the sessions are free and the volunteers with NICASA work on flexible schedules for groups and individuals.

Volunteers are needed to help meet the growing needs and interests in the program. For further information classes or volunteering, contact Fore at 476-3893.
