Fraser's sunny days
By Norma Brand
Everyone in the Fraser area has been enjoying Mother Nature’s gift of sunny weather. We did have rain all day Saturday and Sunday morning we woke up to fog. The sun came out again by noon and we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon.
Daylight savings time began on Sunday. How many of you remembered to turn your clocks ahead?
Marie Armitage traveled to Boise on Friday, March 7 to attend the Western Region Leaders Forum. Marie and Kerry Sanford from Lewiston flew down and spent three days with approximately 400 4-H leaders at the Double Tree Riverside Motel and Conference Center. The workshops they attended will be beneficial for this year’s 4-H program. She reported she had a good time.
Jack and Caryl Smolinski enjoyed a visit from their grandson Larry Helser and his wife Dawn over the weekend. Larry is home from a six-month tour of Iraq; he was stationed in Baghdad. Jack questioned him on his opinion of the war. According to Larry, “there is a lot of good being done it’s just not reported on the news”. Larry will return to Iraq for another six-month tour. Good luck to Larry and all the troops that are stationed there. Our prayers go with you.

They toured the new Cabella’s store in Post Falls and did some other shopping. Mike and Katie’s children Shelby and Cody remained at home with the sitter.
Steve and Norma Brand drove to Spokane on Thursday, March 6 for a machinery sale. While they were there, they met Mark Fowler for St. Maries. Norma asked him if he knew June Judd, he said she was his 5th grade teacher. Isn’t it a small world?
They also took time to look over the new Cabella’s store. An employee, named Jerry, greeted them and gave them an overview of the store. He answered Steve’s question about how Cabella’s started. Did you know the owner started out selling fishing flies? You can get the whole story by asking one of the employees the next time your are at the store.
The employees at Cabella’s certainly go out of their way to be you can even taste their fudge candy, which is made right there, and of course you can’t resist taking a box with you.
Roseanna and Carl Thornton drove to Silverton on the first weekend in March. Their 11 year-old granddaughter, Cera Selzler broke her leg in a skiing accident. When the doctors attended to the injury, they discovered a lump next to the break. It was removed and sent in for a biopsy, it turned out to be just a cyst. Cera is now home recovering. If her friends would like to send her a card you can address it to Cera Selzler, P.O. Box 393, Silverton, ID 83867.

Ruth McHone reported she and Chuck saw their first bluebird on Friday, March 7. It was a male; he landed on the thermometer by their window. It kept studying the thermometer like he wanted to make sure what the temperature was so he could start looking for a nesting area.
Judy Berreth also reported they have seen quite a few bluebirds at their farm at the end of McGoldrick Road.
Peggy Ball and Roseanna Thornton attended the baby shower of Cheyenne Thornton on Saturday, March 8 held at the Fraser Community Center.
