Orofino cheer exhibition March 19 at OHS
The Orofino High School Cheerleaders and the "O" Stars Cheer Team are hosting a Cheer Exhibition Wednesday, March 19 beginning at 7 p.m. at the OHS gymnasium. The event is open to the public and the teams invite everyone to attend and see what competitive cheer is all about. There is not charge to attend.
The OHS team’s three senior boys will be recognized.
The OHS Team is made up of students in grades 9 - 12 from OHS and the "O" Stars are made up of two teams, a Pee Wee team with members that range from kindergarten through sixth grade and a Youth Team with members that range from sixth through eighth grade.
If you haven’t seen any of these teams in action, this event is your opportunity.
OHS Cheerleaders take second at Portland cheer competition
This past weekend the Orofino High School cheerleaders competed at the St. Paddy’s Open National Cheer Competition sponsored by Pac West in Portland, Oregon. It was a three day event and the OHS Cheer Team was one of 20 teams competing four divisions.
In the Large Co-Ed Divsion the Maniacs placed second. King High School from Seattle, WA was first and Port Moody High School from Vancouver, BC placed third.
The Group Stunt Team of Cody Delgado, William Akerstrom, Kyle Kiele, Casey Morrow and Anne Marie Pomponio won first in their division and the OHS Partner Stunt Pairs swept the Partner Stunt Division. First place was William Akerstrom, Kylie Seeley and Kyle Kiele, second place was Jayme Goodson, Tyrnee Nakana and Alex Neshkoff, and third place was Bobby Meador, Kelsey Hanson and William Akerstrom.
The cheerleaders will travel to Boise to compete in the Idaho State Cheerleading Championships on March 22.
