Junior Miss will be chosen this Saturday
Seven girls will participate in this year’s Orofino Junior Miss
program to be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 13 at Orofino High
School. Theme is “Get a Clue about Junior Miss.” Admission is $5.

Jt. School District 171 board meeting March 9.

In 1950, after an absence of seven years, a band was again placed
among the extra curricular activities at Weippe High School.

The monthly food bank will be held at the National Guard Armory, Hwy

The Idaho Food Bank truck will be at Faith Lutheran Church in Pierce

spelling odyssey ends
Anna Grimaldo’s
spelling odyssey, which has taken her as far as Washington, D.C. on
three different occasions, ended last Saturday when she misspelled
jacamar, which is a family of
birds
found mostly in low altitude woodlands and forests of South and
Central America.

dinner to be held in Orofino
A traditional Seder dinner will be held on Wednesday, March 17 at 6
p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Orofino. All are welcome to
attend – both Christian and Jewish communities.

Elementary music programs to be presented March 18
The fourth and fifth graders of Orofino Elementary School will
perform in their music programs on Thursday, March 18, at the
elementary school gym. The fourth graders will perform at 6:15 p.m.
and the fifth graders at 7 p.m.

Knowledge Bowl attends Regionals
On Feb. 17 the Orofino Maniac Knowledge Bowl Team traveled to Moscow
to the University of Idaho where they competed at the INL tournament
on its twentieth anniversary. The quizmasters were thrilled to see
us; it was the first time in 20 years that an Orofino team competed
at Regionals.

Clearwater Human Needs Council at noon Tuesday, March 16, at the

Lin Cannell, Bernice Pullen, and Nick Albers, representing the
Clearwater Historical Museum, gave a fascinating presentation about
Orofino’s early days during the March 3 Orofino Chamber of Commerce
meeting.

Medal for his recent service at Naval Computer and
Telecommunications Station in Naples, Italy.

managers are asking the public to use caution when burning yard
debris and brush piles or using campfires.

Medics medivac injured logger
Orofino’s Back
Country Medics responded to a line machine accident at a logging
site at Elk on the Run, approximately four air miles northwest of
Clarkia, on the
afternoon of March 4 to transport an injured man.
