Chamber meeting

   Pierce-Weippe Chamber will meet Wednesday, Mar. 10, at 6 p.m. in the Weippe Discovery Center. Diane Schmid of Wilderness Taxidermy will be the featured speaker. They invite anyone who has an interest in learning more about Taxidermy and how to preserve a specimen for Taxidermy.


   Look for the new monthly event calendars I am distributing to local businesses around town....there are upcoming specialty dinners, pool tournament information, and holiday events.

   If you would like to stay informed of what's happening , pick up your copy at S & S foods, Pierce Hardware, the Mop Shoppe, or the Pierce Community Center.

·   Sunday, Mar. 7 - Pool League 12 p.m.

·   Monday, Mar. 8 - Pierce City Council meeting is at 7 p.m.

·   Tuesday, Mar. 9 - Birthday Club 12 p.m.

·   Wednesday, Mar. 10 - Pool Tournament, Warm ups at 5 p.m. Tournament will begin 6 p.m.

   There’s no skating this Friday at the center but there is open gym.

Loggers First Aid

   The ALC/CPTPA first aid class will be held at the Community Center Thursday, Mar. 18, from 6 a.m. – noon.

March Sesquicentennial Event

   Sunday, Mar. 14, 2 p.m. marks the date for an old fashioned pie social at the Community Center. Featured guest speaker will be the Forest Service's own Robin Johnston, PHD historian and anthropologist. Robin's topic will be "The Interdependence of communities on the Mining Frontier."

   Those of you who have heard Mr. Johnston before know this will be a presentation you won't want to miss. Pies and refreshments will be furnished for all to enjoy. Please mark your calendar and join us for a memorable event! Miner's claim cards will be stamped at this gathering!

Wanna play ball?

   With this great season of softball coming up, there is a group of folks in Pierce that would like to put together a co-ed softball team. One of the reasons, besides just enjoyment and having a good time, would be to enter the Softball Tournament that takes place here in Pierce the first week end in August.
