Durkee approved for two more years as district school superintendent

A motion Monday was made, seconded and approved unanimously to renew a two year contract for School District Superintendent Dale Durkee. It was announced at the School Board District meeting that the district enrollment on Feb. 4 was at 1285, which is down five students from January and down 49 students from Feb. 07.

Dale Durkee received a $3,000 Title-I improvement grant to work on Math Curriculum. This will go hand in hand with the EETT Competitive Technology Grant that was obtained to also work with the math curriculum.

Alyce Reuter met with the board and Durkee to inquire if they had heard from the people doing the appraisals yet as the 70 day completion is fast approaching. She also asked if the architect had any information.

Durkee noted that the appraisal is being completed and the architect are waiting for the topographical maps being completed by Cuddy and Associates. Durkee is hopeful these will be complete prior to the next board meeting.

The emergency school closure on Jan. 31 due to bad weather  was approved for the entire district.

The 2008-09 school calendar was approved.

The April school district board meeting was changed to April 28 due to a law enforcement conference taking place in Boise April 21 that several administrators want to attend.

The February school board meeting was held Monday at the Orofino Elementary School. Present were board members Shelley Wessels, Amy Jared, Theresa Graber, Staci Lee and Supt. Durkee.
