Starting Feb. 21, heavy hauling restrictions placed on County Roads

The Board approved motion to put heavy hauling restrictions on the County Roads, starting Feb. 21. According to Rob Simon’s Road and Bridge update, the road department will post signs on the roads with load limits of a maximum gross vehicle weight of 30,000 lbs. and when temperatures are below 28 degrees, instead of writing permits.
The only hauling that is exempt is vehicles hauling perishable agriculture products.
The road crew will be working on a slide on Upper Fords Creek Road pending on the weather.
Emergency Management Update
Don Gardner gave the Emergency Management update. He presented a Homeland Security Grant program application. The $773.27 grant is for a training conference for Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP).
Sheriff Alan Hengen and Chief Deputy Chris Goetz, gave an update from the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Hengen will be attending the Sheriff’s Association meeting to finalize expenditure of the Lewis Clark Bicentennial grant funds, to provide justification and close out the remaining fund balances.
Planning & Zoning Report
Administrator, Bobbi Kaufman announced that there will be a quorum for the February Planning and Zoning meeting. The BOCC approved and signed Resolution #08-02-03, to initiate amendment of the Official Zoning Map; in accordance with Article XIV 1405(1), Clearwater County Zoning Ordinance 35 B.
Weeds Department Update
Denny Williams reported that the noxious weeds publication notice was presented and approved for publication. Several new species were added to the State list, which many are found in Clearwater County.
The Clearwater Basin Weed Management Coalition is working on a project in Lapwai. A new weed coalition has been formed in the Twin Ridge area. Joined with the Fraser Coalition, the two coalitions control approximately 10,000 acres for weed control.
Mr. Williams requested using $3,000 from the Fuels Reduction monies to purchase a 40’X8’ a shipping container to use as storage of chemicals, BOCC approved purchasing the unit.
There were two executive sessions held to discuss personnel and indigent matters.
Present for the meeting were Chairman Don Ebert, Commissioner Stan Leach and Commissioner John Allen.
