Zoie McLean receives “Certificate of Historic Note”

Last Friday, Feb. 15, Zoie McLean was presented with a nicely framed “Certificate of Historic Note.” This was for her success and long life here in Orofino and given to her by the Clearwater Historical Society. Zoie is 103 years old and was born in Creston, WN.

She grew up on a cattle ranch and married a miner named Clair McLean. They had two sons Courtney and Douglas.

After the loss of her husband she went back to school and became a teacher. She taught high school at Kettle Falls, WN for about three years.

Zoie remarried, moved to California and later back to Davenport, WN where they owned and operated a flower shop in the early 1960’s.

She moved to Orofino in about 1981 and has been one of our most interesting citizens, a person who is a joy to know!

The presentation was made by Margaret Fine on behalf of the Clearwater Historical Society.
