Orofino High School boys’ basketball team members are Lance Blades, Dan Soto, Isaac Hall, Rick Washburn, Terry Nelsen, Jarel Bruce, Toby Shakange, John Kayler, Bert Sims, Sven Wilson and Chris Coonts.
Orofino Junior High School was one of 20 schools from Idaho that participated in the American Junior High School Mathematics this year. Mickey Elsbury was fourth highest in the state.

Timberline High JV boys’ basketball team members are Curtis Bonner, Kris Waide, Tim Jennings, Aaron Umphenour, Harvey Willis, Brian Bolon, Randy Wise, Travis Hengen, Jim Lewis, Sam Jennings, Mark Smolinski and Mike Walsh. Tom Wright is their coach.
Three Orofino High School students have been nominated by U.S. Congressman Larry Craig to the United States Service Academies. Kenneth Weller was nominated to both the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD and the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, CO. Blue Richardson was nominated to the Military Academy at West Point, NY. Neal Eby was nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.
Harry J. Schaack is a new registered representative for Waddell and Reed in Lewiston.
Timberline High School congratulates Beth Ann Kyle for being selected to Idaho All-State Band to be held in Rexburg.

Charles and Bernadine Easterbrook announce the marriage of their daughter, Gail Louise to Gerald “Eric” Rensink Nov. 23 at Reno, NV. They are making their home in Richland, WA.
Six Orofino youths will compete in the Lewiston Morning Tribune Hoop Shoot in the semi-finals: Ryan Platt, who shot 21 for 25 for free throws; Marcie Bunch with 12 for 25; Micki Wilson Spence, third grade, with 5 for 25; Dustin Perrin, fourth grade, 16 for 25; Kirk Kludt, fifth grade, with 16 for 25; and Mary Jo Musselman with 16 for 25.

More rain fell during the past weekend. County roads are still in soft condition. The bulk of the log hauling has stopped.

The Chamber of Commerce ambulance committee promised further efforts to obtain a war surplus ambulance for standby use at the county courthouse and assurance that VFW Post #3296 members would be able to man the machine.
The post office has issued a call for bids to carry mail from the post office to the depot and back.
An Orofino Mercantile ad reads: One rack of blouses reg. price $1.89 and $3.98 are now 98¢. Pot roast is 18¢ a pound, ham is 25¢ a pound and picnic and short shanks are 17¢ a pound.

Matters have at least assumed definite shape to ensure the reopening of the lime plant in Orofino. The new plant with modern machinery will open the ledge of virgin lime rock, which underlines the hill above the Orofino Tracing Company.
