The Clearwater Ridgerunners Fun Run organizers report 78 people signed up for the run. They came from Kamiah, Stites, Lewiston and Moscow, in addition to Pierce, Weippe and Orofino. The winners were Alex Opdahl on Saturday and Dale Cox on Sunday. There will be more information on the run next week.

Winners of the snow sculpture contest were: 1st place – Glenda Smith, 2nd place – Cindy Flury and 3rd place Penny Spooner. Thanks for participating, ladies!

There was a large crowd at the Timber Inn Saturday night enjoying the live music.

Xi Alpha Nu Sorority provided food from the Lions Club building Saturday and Sunday. The booth was attended by: Pat Rayner, Linda Applington, Debbie Maki, Cindy McCool, Terri Smith, Mary Jo Medley, Betsy Stemrich, Dorie Stacy and Amy Jared. This group works hard to raise money to provide a scholarship for a Timberline High School student.

Amy Peterson of the Clearwater Ridgerunners would like to notify people of the March 1 Trail Brushing Day. So bring your lopers and whatnot, they’ll meet at the Groomer Shed up the Bald Mt.    Harv Nelson reports the birth of a new grandson. Daughter Sarah delivered Benjamin Ezekiel Lawrence on January 29, 2008 in Salt Lake City, UT. The baby weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz. and was 19 inches in length. Harv reports it was somewhat stressful for a while. Colleen was with Sarah at her home in Park City. There was a storm and the freeway was closed. Right after the freeway was opened Sarah went into labor. On the way from Park City to Salt Lake City (where the baby was scheduled to be delivered) the cell phone quit working and a storm watch was called. They made it in time and all was well. Whew!

The Pierce-Weippe Chamber of Commerce will have a meeting of officers Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the Bonura’s at 1157 Hwy. 11 between Pierce and Weippe.

Leslie Potratz will be doing the Pierce News starting next week. I have started a new job and am unable to continue. I appreciate the help I have received from community members and have enjoyed working with all of you.

   Happy Valentine’s Day!
