   Laurella Miller received a silver tray in honor of her 40 years of service to the Clearwater Valley Hospital and community.

   Jessica Lang is in her third year swimming for the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Jessica is an Academic honoree with a 3.34 GPA in Biology.

   Maintenance crews from the Idaho Transportation Department placed new signs along U.S. Highway 12 near Orofino designating the Northwest Passage Scenic Byway.

   Sid. O. Brown retired from Barnett-Thompson Chevrolet Jan. 31 after working there for 38½ years. He went to work Sept. 15, 1959 for Lawrence Thompson. He ran the body shop upstairs for many years.

   Orofino prison site preparations are starting.

   Con Cleto has completed six years of college and is now employed at Medical Park.

   Joel Johnstun, a senior at Timberline High School, will participate as a page at legislature during the current legislative session.

   Jeff Wilson is January student of the month at Orofino High School.

   Garett Bretz, a junior at Orofino High School, defeated Ryan Quimby of Lakeland 32-2 in class A-2 wrestling finals to claim the 171 lb. crown.

   Billie White was all smiles after catching her prize 22 lb. 42 inch long steelhead on the Clearwater.

   Glenn Brown, 14, brought the first buttercup into the Tribune. He found it near his home on Upper Fords Creek.

   Orofino Junior High Eighth Grade Basketball Team finished the season with a 12-0 record. Team members are Nels Kludt, Doug Lambrecht, Tim Newland, Doug Adams, Mark Pishl, Jeff Farley, Dave Schwartz, Bucky Hulett, Stacy Krupa, Russ Salmons, Curt Steiner, Brent Clark, Ryan Dennison and Mike Ailor. They are coached by Chad Easterbrook.

   Karen Bird Goodwin is in Seattle this week for her first appearance in model photography. She is expected to appear in two shots in a brochure for the Bon.

   Weippe - Don Jared a senior at Oregon Institute of Technology at Klamath Falls Falls, Oregon, has an outstanding record in basketball this season.  Jared has been lauded by sports writers in several newspapers. He is majoring in accounting.

   On to Seattle - Rob Wright hit 16 of 25 to win the Tribune Elk Hoop Shoot held at Clarkston.

   Joan Konkol has earned a straight A average for the semester at Boise State University.

   Lorrie Walrath has begun duties as a page in the Idaho State Legislature, on recommendations of Senator Claud Judd.

   Scott Paper Company has reopened its Kamiah chip mill shipping to Everett, WA.

   Testing at Dworshak Power House began on the first 90,000KW generator which will go on line in the Bonneville system about March 1. Dam administrative offices will be in the new power house reports Rodger Colgan.

40 Years Ago

   Thirty-four building permits for 1967 amounted to $239,456. Sam Garten, city engineer reported this week.

   General Telephone Company is on schedule with its expansion plans at the Orofino office that calls for adding 400 new lines here.

   Ken Weller is home on a 15 day leave from  the war in Vietnam.

45 Years Ago

   Orofino Baptist Church has acquired five acres of land from Lloyd Richardson as a site for a new church.

   Traffic has been restored on Spalding Bridge, skewed six inches off line by a recent ice jam. Ice pileup on the Orofino Creek Road has wiped out the bridge to the Brandt home and diverted Harmony Heights traffic to Deer Creek Road.

50 Years Ago

   Glen Snyder of Fraser has been selected to play trumpet in the Marine Band at San Diego.

   Orofino High School Cheerleaders are Jerry Ann Michaels, Nancy Oud, Loretta Samuels, Penny Erbst and Carol Isabelle.

   Don Bloom, Orofino High School graduate in 1955, has begun work at the Idaho First National Bank.

   John Werner, junior in the school of communications at the University of Washington has been named president of the Washington Chapter of Sigma Delta Chi, Professional Journalist fraternity.
