Buy a Pin
Remember Pierce's 150th anniversary all year! We still have the sesquicentennial pins for sale, at a wonderful price of just $2 each; all proceeds go to the celebration events for 2010. Once we have sold a few more of these beautiful pins, we will be introducing a newly designed pin.
We hope to have four pins for the entire year, to commemorate 1860 and the following 150 years. Be sure you have all four pins; there will never be another sesquicentennial. You can purchase your pins at White Pine Credit Union, A Blue Moose Mercantile, or contact Carmen Syed at 464 1088.
1860 Days
There will not be a meeting for Pierce 1860 Days this week; the next meeting will be on Feb. 25, 6 p.m. at A Blue Moose, in Pierce. All are welcome; come with ideas and inspiration!
Festival Results
The Pierce Winter Festival was a great success. The Committee would like to thank all the planners and those who participated or helped by buying raffle tickets, donating prizes, running events or just by attending. Congratulations to Ice Man Winners: Dylan Anderson, Jake Jared and Colton Jared, sponsored by Studio 205. The Bar Stool Race was won by Todd Billups and the winners for the Cabela's drawing: $300 - Gene Applington, $200 - Bret LaPeter, $100 - Bart Simpson.
I’d like to say what a good job this committee did pulling off a successful week-end with no new snow. There were actually a few sculptures done at the library by Donna Lamb, Leia Vanhook and children. They were great.
Like last year it was fun to watch people jump into the icy creek while everyone cheered them on. Improvising and moving the barstool race behind the Outback worked out well. There were some unique creations and a lot of laughter shared there. Karaoke showed some talents (and not) and the live music was awesome. Thanks everyone!
Dog Tags
Just a reminder to those who have not yet purchased their dog tags that the deadline is the end of this month.
Water Rate Public Hearing
The City Of Pierce will hold a public meeting to discuss the proposed water rates for water customers. Rate studies and other documentation will be available for the public to review. Pierce City Council and Mayor Gerot encourage citizens to attend this public hearing which will be held at the Community Center Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.
