Happy Valentine's Day from Fraser

By Norma Brand

Three more days to Valentines Day

You have three more days to select a card and a box of candy for that special person in your life. A basket of apples, kiwi, bananas, and grapes is always welcome if you want to avoid sweets. Whatever you choose have a Happy Valentines Day.

Six more weeks of winter?

Will there be six more weeks of winter?  Did the groundhog see his shadow on Feb. 2? As mild as this winter has been so far, it doesn’t seem like it makes any difference if he saw it or not! Snow or rain storms are hitting the rest of the United States, but here in the Great Northwest it has been wet but no snow accumulation. We did get a light skiff of snow on Monday night, but by Tuesday morning it had melted.

Children grow up so fast

The children of the young families in the Fraser Community are growing up so fast. Donna Brown attended the Timberline Schools 6th and 7th grade volleyball game on Thursday, Feb. 4. Her granddaughter, Izzy Brown, is on the junior high team this year. Timberline’s team won their game against Grangeville. Izzy served several times and sent the ball sailing over the net. Congratulations to everyone on the team, you are off to a good start.

Oreta Stuart reported her great-granddaughter, Taylor Wilson, is a member of the Mini Cheerleaders for Timberline Schools. They performed during half time at the boy’s basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 4. Taylor’s grandmother Carmen Mindard and her Aunt Tessa Brown arrived in Fraser on Friday for a visit. They missed her performance, but Oreta had pictures to show everyone. Carmen and Tessa visited with everyone and played with the newest member of the family, granddaughter Payton Kelly Kingen who was born on Nov. 24. They returned to Gresham, OR on Tuesday morning.

Engagement of Brandon Woods and Martha Hokson

Janet and Pete Kingen enjoyed a visit from their grandson Brandon Woods and his fiancée, Martha Hokson over the weekend. The couple is on a 10-day vacation trip to tell family members of their engagement. No date has been set for the wedding, but Janet and Pete will keep us informed on the plans. Congratulations to Brandon and Martha.

Super Bowl watchers

Donna and Danny Brown’s son, Brad, drove to the farm for the weekend. Cory and Michele and their daughter, Izzy, Caitlin, Abby and Samantha joined the family for dinner on Sunday, and enjoyed watching the Indiana Colts and the New Orleans Saints play in the Super Bowl.

Peggy and Reggie Ball invited friends to their home and her mother Irene Haight, Jim McManis, and Steve and Norma Brand visited while they watched the New Orleans Saints win the Super Bowl.

Beards have a good time at Jackson Hole, WY

Linda Beard reported she and Mike had a great time skiing at Jackson Hole, WY. According to Linda is snowed every day and the slopes were pretty steep. It took a couple of tumbles before she got the hang of it, but after that she had a fabulous time.
