Back Country Medics medevac injured woman
Back Country Medics responded to Wilderness Gateway Campground, milepost 122.5 on U.S. Highway 12, at the request of Kooskia Ambulance to fly a woman to medical facilities after she was injured in a head-on vehicle accident Sunday afternoon.
According to Back Country Medics, Jodi Todd, 44, Missoula, MT, had possible chest and right knee injuries. Back Country originally attempted flying Todd to medical facilities in Missoula, but had to turn around due to weather conditions. She was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.
The driver of the vehicle Kevin D. Todd, 45, Missoula, was taken by ground ambulance to Syringa General Hospital in Grangeville. The driver of the other vehicle, Jessica L. Martin, 26, Elk City, was not injured.
According to ISP, Martin was driving a 2007 Toyota 4-Runner westbound on U.S. Highway 12 at milepost 124 when she lost control due to ice-covered roadways. Her vehicle collided with the Todd vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, and came to rest facing south in the westbound travel lane. The road way was blocked for approximately 2 ½ hours.
In addition to Back Country Medics and ISP, Idaho County Sheriff’s Department, Lowell QRU, Kooskia Ambulance and Idaho Transportation Department responded and assisted.
