Local youth to participate in World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia
By Dianna Seeley, Youth Leader
I’m writing this on behalf of my youth that will be participating in World Youth Day (WYD) 2008 which will be in Sydney, Australia this year. It is a pilgrimage, which is defined as a journey with a meaningful purpose. WYD is sponsored every few years by different countries. It is a wonderful way for teens and adults to meet others who share their faith and connect with themselves and God. We have worked and prayed very hard for this journey and are very excited about it.
We will be going to Narromine, which is 600 miles from Sydney, for five days to a retreat, stay with families and learn about how they do things. Then we will go back to Sydney for a week and do activities, go to mass and spend the night in the outback. We even get to see the Pope, which will be a very memorable experience.
Young people need positive experiences to put in their memory bank and help them to be better adults. I’m so proud of the youth at St. Theresa’s and feel very lucky to be a part of this with them.
Please support them, and pray for them. The youth I’m talking about are: Kylie Seeley, Ben Annen, Zac Carter, Trevor Bansemer, Elizabeth Moore, and Josie Riccomini.
