   Orofino High School basketball team members are Sarah Manfull, Farrah Pippenger, Rachell Freeman, Rachel Lewis, Lisa Stanley, Cristy Terherst, Julie Parker, Tillie Bonney, Angie Bedard, Michelle Platt and Christina Washburn.

   Carl Cook has been selected the 1992 employee of the year at State Hospital North. Cook is a L.P.N. Therapist at the Alcoholism Treatment Unit.

   Orofino High School wrestlers placing in the Clearwater Classic Tournament in Lewiston were Matt Anderson 2nd, Casey Waggener 5th, Galen Anderson 3rd. Tom Davis 6th and Dusty Powers 4th.

   Two Orofino High School boys are serving as pages in the Idaho Legislature. Eric Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wilson, is serving in the Senate. Doug Abrams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Abrams, is a page in the House of Representatives.

   Orofino High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team members are Cassie Newland, Sheila Cochrane, Laurie Teed, Heidi Manfull, Marcy Wilkins, Terri Leach, Noelle Richardson, Brenda Pederson, Brenda Fix, and Dena Wagar. Kurt Savage is their coach.

   Final bucket of concrete was placed on Dworshak Dam, four years, seven months and four days after the initial ceremony marking the first pour on the 6,626,645 cubic yard monolith blocking the North Fork.

   Orofino High School’s Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow is Darcy Aldrich.

   Mrs. Larry “Jo” Sharrai, lab technician at State Hospital North and resident of Riverside for the past four years, was ratified by the City Council to succeed Mrs. Betty Fairley who resigned.

   Idaho First National Bank showed system deposits of 257 million at its 35 branch offices.

   Grade 5-Mrs. Sisley-Receiving 100s in our 100 word spelling  test were Mike Bushfield, Bob Crawford, Joe Crockett, Larry Schneck, Shelly Hutchinson, JoAnn Konkol. Tami Marquette, Judy Sewell, Kelley Steinbruck, Christine Brown, Brad Olsen, Vickie Bray and Rod Jones. Debra Cady missed only one word.

   Straight A grades in the Orofino High School were attained by Bette Lynch, senior; Pat McCollister, junior and Doug Crockett, Linda Gentry and Betty Lou Wilson, freshmen. All A grades in the junior high went to Sandra McCollister and Diane

West.

   Ralph Haley has opened a law office in the Burns Building as an attorney at law. Formerly of Moscow and a graduate of the University of Idaho, Mr. Haley’s practice brings the roster of Clearwater County attorneys back to four.

   Stoddard Electric announced this week opening of a new electric motor service department specializing in the servicing and rebuilding of larger motors from 1 to 500 hp.

   Rainfall in Orofino for January hit a new all-time record this week with 7.53 inches, more than an inch above the previous January.

65 Years Ago

   Official weather recording of 26 below zero was listed at the Pierce Ranger Station while Orofino felt the more penetrating river cold with a minimum of 6 below.

   Dr. Robertson, owner of the Burns Hospital, has been awarded a two-year contract to hospitalize all county patients including prisoners and to serve as county physician for a flat fee of $500 per month. Major epidemics, catrophies and tubercular are excluded.

   Weather report from Gilbert: we had a dust storm. Strange for February, particularly with plenty of snow on the ground. The snow was brown with dust, which we suppose came from Walla Walla.
