More than half of North America’s original wetlands are gone and another 170,000 wetland acres are lost each year. Waterfowl and other wetland-dependent wildlife species are running out of places to live and we are losing countless benefits that wetlands provide humankind.
As the world’s largest non-profit wetlands and waterfowl conservation organization, Ducks Unlimited (DU) is working hard to preserve our valuable natural resources for future generations. Since its inception in 1937, Ducks Unlimited has raised more than 1.2 billion dollars to conserve over nine million acres of critical wildlife habitat in each of the 50 states, in all of the Canadian provinces and in key areas of Mexico.
And it is not just about ducks: DU works to protect more than 900 wildlife species, including 160 that are threatened or endangered. Wetlands that are restored, enhanced and preserved by DU help all of us by filtering pollutants from our water supply, offering protection from floods and providing recreation.
