   Jake and Christina Cahill announce the birth of baby girl Raegan Emily Cahill, born 11:23 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2010 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.  She weighed 7 lbs. 12 1/2 oz. and was 21 inches long. Raegan’s proud family includes grandparents John and Nancy Cahill of Weippe, David and Karen Loranger, and Dan and Sheryl Jensen; aunt Annie Cahill, uncle Guy Burnette and cousins Leighton Ray and Landon Jacob Burnette. Great-grandpa is Kenneth Chapman of Weippe. 

   Winnie Morrell announces the birth of great-granddaughter Emelie Nuing. Emilie is the daughter of Katie and Richard Nuing of Fort Worth, TX.

   Menu at Senior Center Thursday, Feb. 4 - pork nuggets, potatoes and gravy with veggie and fruit. Monday, Feb. 8 they will be serving salad bar, sliced meat, deviled eggs, fruit and cottage cheese.

   Christine Brown & Vickie Jorgenson of White Pine Rebekah Lodge visited Timberline High School Wednesday to talk with sophomores and juniors about the United Nations Pilgrimage for youth program. Interested students compete for this unique opportunity. The competition tests student’s knowledge of the United Nations and requires a short speech.

   This program provides an all expense paid two week tour of our nation’s East Coast historical sites and a one day visit to the United Nations.

   Home Schooled students are also eligible and can contact either Christine 435-4305 or Vickie at 435-4234 for information.

   Weippe Fire Department offers the opportunity to help the community… if you are willing to attend one training a month and learn fire department procedures.  The department offers a family atmosphere and families are encouraged to join.  Training is 4 p.m. the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month with a monthly meeting the 1st Wed. of each month at 6 pm. Come out and support your community. More information?    Looking for something to do this weekend? The Pierce Winter Festival is full of fun events, runs Friday and Saturday. A complete schedule is in this edition of the paper. Mayor Norm Steadman will be the featured Storyteller at the Saturday night bonfire.

   Five tables of plucky pinochle players showed up at the lodge on Sunday afternoon. Bob Blanke won high.  Fred Borders got low. Geraldine Rebel and Minnie West won pinochle. Looks like Dolores has ended her winning streak.

   Bob Hyde, long time Weippe resident now living in Lewiston, is celebrating his 80th birthday at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Orchards united Methodist Church, 1212 Burrell Ave. in Lewiston.
