Community invited to teacher in-service Feb. 5

   Joint School District #171 invites all parents and community members to attend the next teacher in-service day, Friday, Feb. 5, at Orofino High School.

   The morning session from 8-11 a.m. entitled “Issues in Special Education”, will be presented by Kathy Buswell, Regional Representative from SDE and Joan MacMillan, Parent Involvement Coordinator. The session will cover roles and responsibilities of IEP team members, discipline, accommodations, and intervention process for students with disabilities, and the difference between IDEA and 504 students.

   The afternoon will be broken down into three mini sessions all from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

   “Immunizations,” presented by Betsy Stemrich, will be in the library.

   “Head Injuries,” presented by Dr. Clayton Bunt, will be in Room 12.

   “Kids Gone Wild II,” will be presented by Sallie Wilhelm, Kelly Reggear and Orofino Police Chief Jeff Wilson on drug/alcohol issues in the community and how students are affected. This class will take place in the cafeteria.
