Comment period extended for Clearwater Travel Management Plan
Orofino – Comments regarding the Clearwater National Forest’s travel planning proposal are being accepted through Feb. 29. The comment period was originally schedule to end Jan. 11.
Clearwater National Forest Supervisor Tom Reilly said there is a high level of interest in the project, and a number of individuals have expressed a need for more time to understand the proposal and formulate comments. He said this comment extension would provide that opportunity.
The Forest’s travel planning proposal was released Nov. 28, 2007. Its purpose is to formally designated those roads, trails and areas where motorized travel will be permitted and display them on a Motor Vehicle Use Map.
Once the map is published, travel will be allowed only on designated routes or areas displayed on the map.

Comments regarding the proposed travel proposal should be mailed to Lois Foster, Interdisciplinary Team Leader, Kamiah Ranger Station, Rt. 2, Box 191, Kamiah, ID 83536. E-mail comments can be sent to comments– northernclearwater@fs.fed.us.
While comments are accepted any time during the process, submission by Feb. 29 is encouraged to ensure comments can be utilized to develop alternatives in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement.
