CLEARWATER TRIBUNE HOME

Freezing weather in Fraser

By Norma Brand and Cathy Walker

On Monday, Jan. 21, the Fraser Community woke up to temperatures in the 6 to 0 degree range and clear skies. We have had snow on the ground since the end of November. This is the kind of weather to have during the winter season. Those of use who enjoy cold weather and snow think this is great. The snow storm that blew through on Saturday evening left drifts in the sheltered areas.

The employees of the Clearwater Highway District have spent many hours plowing the roads so we won’t become snowbound.

Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction

Michele Brown is coordinating the Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction to help Kathy and Scott Lefferts with Scott’s medical bills.

The Lefferts have been lifetime residents of the Weippe area and Kathy has been an aide at the Timberline Schools for 15 years.

The Benefit will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 5 p.m. at Timberline Schools.

A dinner of lasagna, salad, garlic bread, dessert, and beverage will be served. The cost is $6 person or $20 per family.

If you would like to donate lasagna, salad, bread, or desserts, please contact Patty Blain at (208) 435-4292.

Donations for the silent auction are welcome. Some items that have come in so far are: a load of gravel from Jason Berreth, the Bald Mountain Ski Area has donated an all day ski pass complete with ski rental and lunch, Donna Brown will bake cinnamon rolls, and area businesses and friends have also made donations.

If you would like to donate an item or have time to help, please contact Michele Brown at (208) 435-4172.

There will be a basketball game on this same evening at Timberline Schools which starts at 6 p.m.

The silent auction items will be open for bids until the third quarter of the varsity basketball game.

Please come and enjoy dinner and the game. Any help you can give will be very much appreciated.

Norma Brand wants to thank Millie and Kathy at the FSA Office for finding the silver feather, which is part of Norma’s favorite pair of earrings.

Donna Stickney reported that the Fraser Grange Pinochle Party that was held on Saturday, Jan. 12, had a fun afternoon. There were enough players for three tables. High score went to LaDonna Chapman, Low score went to Pam Carter and pinochle was won by Geraldine Rebel and LaDonna Chapman. A potluck dinner was enjoyed after the last game.

Norma received a phone call from Elvita Judd over the weekend. Elvita sounded in good spirits and wanted to talk about the Fraser Grange and what their plans are for this year. It was great to talk with her again.

Donna Stickney and Norma Brand joined P.E.O. Chapter CD for Lunch Bunch on Friday, Jan. 18. Sixteen members enjoyed lunch at the Fiesta En Jalisco Restaurant in Orofino.  They were pleased to have Pam Carter join them.

Bobbi and Clint Boyer and their children, Macoy and Breyer, spent Christmas Eve at home. They were joined by Shannon Snyder, Aaron and Lisa Snyder, Wendy and Darin Polman, and their daughter, Linsey. Bobbi reported Macoy’s favorite gift was a monster truck and Breyer’s was “My Little Pony.” It looks like Breyer is just as interested in horses as her mother. Both children are looking forward to summer so they can put their new fishing poles in the water.

They spent Christmas Day at Bobbi’s parents’ home. Her sister, Billi Henderson, and husband, Hugh, and her brother, Jake, joined them.

For Christmas Mike and Katie Bird and children, Shelby and Cody, traveled to Walla Walla, Washington, to spend Christmas with Katie’s parents, Evan and Margo Anderson, Katie’s brother Matt Anderson, and his wife, Amanda, Katie’s sister, Heidie Bird, and her husband, Scott, and their children, Kyle and Ashlyn. They stayed for five days and returned home to spend a quiet News Years at their ranch.

On Christmas Eve, Bob Gangewer had a family gathering at his home. Bob’s daughters, Wanda Strong, and her husband, Dave, and Fay Teed, her daughters, Cindy Teed and Laurie Steiger, and her husband, Scott, and their children, Taylor and Brandon, Fay’s step granddaughter, Erin Hoist, Bob’s daughter, Lois Hobbs, and her husband, Gene, and son, Trever, Bob’s son, Kirk, and his daughter, Jessy, and friends Gerry and Jake Armitage.

They had smoked turkey, hors d’oeuvres, played cards and Outburst, and even went out and shot some baskets. Everyone stayed overnight and on Christmas morning, they had a breakfast casserole and opened packages. Everyone enjoyed the day and returned home in the early afternoon.

Donna and Dan Stickney will celebrate their 16th wedding anniversary on Jan. 24.

Happy Birthday goes out to Parker Brown on Jan. 30.
