The "Black and Gold" Timberline High School student art show took place Wednesday, Jan. 13 through Saturday, Jan. 16 at Studio 205 on Main Street, Pierce. At the close of the show 169 viewers had signed in.  Photos and information on their pieces will be in next week's Clearwater Tribune issue.

At Weippe City Council meeting last Monday Mike Edmonson reported several water leaks due to frozen meters and valves. One large leak was located in the basement at the old elementary school.

Deputy Deitrick introduced Matt Russell who will be the new Weippe resident deputy following field training. Mayor Steadman and council members, Millie Morris and Bill Barteaux, subscribed to the oath of office and were each presented with a “Certificate of Election”.

Motions were made to adopt two resolutions; one authorizing council members to approve payment of vendors without the presence of a quorum and one authorizing clerk to pay certain vendors prior to submission to the council. These payments will then be ratified and the next regular meeting of the council.

Dolores reports there were five tables playing pinochle at the Lodge last Sunday. Burt Curtis had newcomer's luck, winning high score. LaDonna Chapman got low score, with Dolores Watson and Jack Smolinski winning pinochle.

Opportunity! The Weippe Library is offering pinochle lessons. Sign up sheet is available now. A seasoned pinochle player is poised and ready to give instruction,

White Pine Rebekah Lodge is having a fundraiser. A Sweetheart's Night Out dance is scheduled for Feb 13th at the Weippe Community Hall from 6:30 to 11 p.m. There will be lots of appetizers, non-alcoholic beverages, music, contests, and prizes. It's $20 for a couple and $10 for singles. Tickets will be sold in advance. The hall will be decorated in a Valentine theme, so bring your sweetie and dance (and eat) the night away.    Janet Ocrowley and Judy O'Brien both have Jan. 15th birthdays so they hosted a joint, 2 in 1, birthday party Saturday night. Friends came to wish them happy birthday and congratulate them on living so long.
