Pierce-Weippe Chamber Profile
Three Mountains Retreat, Pierce
Three Mountains Retreat was named for three mountains that can be seen from Darin and Patricia Jacks’ home: Shanghai, French, and Hemlock. The cabins are adjacent to their home, and they opened Three Mountains Retreat in 1999.
Darin and Patricia built the cabins themselves, when they saw the need for child and pet-friendly lodging in the area, from logs purchased from Pioneer Log Homes in Weippe. The cabins accommodate 2-6 persons each. They have met many wonderful people from all over the United States and many of these people return each year.
Darin was raised in Pierce and knows the area very well. He has “walked in the woods” since graduation. Darin and Patricia met in 1987 and married in 1989. Patricia is a Registered Nurse and works part time in Orofino and Pioneer Medical Clinic in Pierce.
Darin is employed by Empire Lumber in Weippe as their log loader operator.
Darin and Patricia have two sons, Paul and Rick, daughter Laci, along with three grandchildren, Connor, James and Megan.
Three Mountains Retreat continues to provide child and pet-friendly lodging and Darin and Patricia encourage everyone to come to Pierce to enjoy nature, whether it be bird watching, hunting, hiking or winter recreation. Fly-fishing is very popular; Patricia says, “We have folks from all over coming just to fish!”
Their wish is for Pierce to continue as a warm and friendly place for people to visit and enjoy, as they state, “what we enjoy every day-the peaceful, slow, easy way of life in the woods, and nature at our back door”.
Darin and Patricia and Three Mountains Retreat is located at 102 Alpine Ct. in Pierce. They may be reached at 208-464-2172, website www.idahomountainretreat.com or email email@example.com.
