"Battle of the 6C Courts"

   THS and OHS Variety Boys and Girls Basketball teams will be fighting it out for the title of 6C champs on Monday, Jan. 11. The face off starts at 6 p.m. at OHS gym. There will be a Spartan Pep Bus leaving Pierce at 4:30 p.m., Timberline at 4:40 p.m., and Weippe at 4:50 p.m. All are encouraged to attend and "pack the house" dressed in Black and Gold to support the Spartans.

Crab Feed/Comedy Show

   The 1st annual Crab Dinner and Comedy Show will be at the VUG Friday, Jan. 22, from 5-8 p.m. The Comedy Show starts at 9 p.m. The cost is $35 each for dinner and the comedy show or $10 for just the comedy show. Comedian Scot Shields will be entertaining the crowd. There are only 50 tickets available for the crab dinner and they must be purchased by Monday, Jan. 18.

Sesquicentennial Celebration

   Pierce will be celebrating its 150 year anniversary this summer during 1860 Days. There is a committee formed that is planning monthly events leading up to August. The first one will be a "Hilltop potluck" Jan. 7 at the Pierce Community Center.
Coffee hour is at
5 p.m., dinner is at 6 p.m., and at 7 p.m. will be "Old Time Tales" with various local speakers.

   Bring your favorite covered dish, beverages and utensils will be provided. This is the first event for your 2010 Miners Claim Stamp. Any questions call Carmen at 464-1088

   Quilt Club Jan. 8 at 9 a.m.

   Girls Volleyball practice Jan. 11 and Jan. 13 at 3:30 p.m.

   Judo Jan. 11 and Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m.

   AAU practice Jan. 12 and Jan. 14 at 3:30 p.m.

   Pierce-Weippe Chamber meeting Jan. 13 at 6 p.m.

Pioneer Medical Clinic

   Dr. Jenkins will be here Thursday, Jan. 21. John Beeh, PA will be there every Monday through Thursday. The clinic would like to remind people that reduced rates are available through the "Hill-Burton Assistance" program. Rates are based on income and family size.

1860 Days

   The first meeting for this year’s 1860 Days will be Thursday, Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. at A Blue Moose in Pierce. 2010 is the 50th anniversary of 1860 Days, so bring your imagination and big ideas, and we will see what kind of fun we can create for Aug. 6-8.

Winter Festival

   Make plans to attend the Pierce Winter Festival Feb. 5-6. Fun activities will take place all three days. Businesses will again have teams to compete in the Ice Man Relay. Let us know if you want to take part.

   A new event this year will be the Bar Stool Race. Two person teams will build their own bar stool on skis and race to the finish line. Watch for more details.
