Seventh grade Orofino Junior High School basketball Kamiah Tournament winners were Nick Pomponio, Michel Welch, Michael Thomas, Trevor Bansemer, Austin Summers, Rick Breeden, Jordan Anderson, Garth Schilling, Richard Zink, Dakota Brooks and Brandon Wilson.
Fraser - Winter has really set in with lots of snow, wind and cold weather. Many have had to snow plow roads due to drifting.
Teakean-Cavendish - The three day post Christmas storm in our area is a close second to the Christmas night 1968 when roads were closed Christmas night until New Year’s Eve.

Four University of Idaho students submitted winning entries in recent Interior Designers of Chair Design competition. One of the students, Katie Eichert, won first place in the Best Student Chair Division for her culvert chair with a wooden seat.
Orofino High School girl’s JV basketball team members are Darcy Perrin, Becca Nelsen, Rachel Crawford, Melissa Ray, Tania Swart, Jennifer Lathrop, Stephanie Freeman, Sheila Crocker, Misty Dykes and Melissa Harris.

Harry L. Cummings, paratrooper, writes that he is now in France after being in Holland since September, where he jumped with the airborne troops during the invasion of that country. Harry says he is now sleeping in barracks instead of fox holes, that it is really much nicer.

The village of Weippe celebrated New Year’s night under electric lights for the first time in its history.
The City Council took action to regulate the use and fix rental charges on the dance pavilion located in Memorial Park and fireman hall located on the second floor of the city building. They were recently purchased from the American Legion
The new 100 bed dormitory at State Hospital North is now being occupied.

Operations of the dredge installed by Gold Dredge from historian Pierce Camp have returned profits of thousands of dollars during the last two months. The dredge was placed in operation in September.

The North Idaho Sanitarium has a large crew of men busy following recent cold weather putting up ice from the Clearwater River. The blocks are about 15 inches thick and are a very good grade.
