Orofino graduate is U.S. Marine

   Private 1st Class Gregory J. Shriver, a graduate of Orofino High School, graduated with honors Nov. 4 from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, CA.

   He also graduated with honors Dec. 15, 2009 from Marine combat training at Camp Pendleton, CA. He has begun his military occupational specialty training in Fort Lee, VA.

   Marine Corps basic training is the longest boot camp in all branches of the armed services. The pinnacle of the experience is called “The Crucible”, which involves approximately 50 miles of hiking, three MREs and approximately eight hours of sleep in a 56 hour period all while completing various obstacles.
