'Farewell Tour' brings smiles

Larry Sharrai and Gerri Lemmon, accompanied by Joanne Hutchinson, with their 'Farewell Tour' brought smiles to the Clearwater Human Needs Council Christmas gathering with their music and antics.

The two started performing together in a 1986 production of 'Hello Dolly' in which Sharrai played Mr. Vandergelder and Lemmon played Dolly. At the time, community productions were done at the auditorium at Givens Hall, now part of the Idaho Correctional Institution-Orofino campus. They have fond memories of other cast members from that production and others they participated in until the auditorium was closed and converted for other uses.

Both Larry and Gerri loved to sing and their performance in 'Dolly' lead to other requests for the talents at community events such as Old Fashioned Sunday. They also get requests for their music at gatherings of organizations, particularly at Christmas time when they sing a variety of songs that bring the spirit of the season to the event.

One of the favorites is when Gerri sings "We Need a Little Christmas" as she 'decorates Larry with all kinds of Christmas lights, stockings and garlands, even a special garland crown.

Gerri said their "Farewell Tour" was started years ago as a fundraiser for the pool. The performance always brings smiles and warm feelings to the room. Hopefully, the "farewell" will be to the old year about to pass and people will be able to continue enjoying the spirit and music of the "tour" for years to come.
